Tostada Taco Salad

This yummy Mexican dish was sent in by Coralee Bernard.  Some optional toppings include sour cream, chopped olives, salsa, ranch dressing, sliced avacado or guacamole.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cheddar or Favorite Mixed Cheeses, shredded
  • 1/2 large Red Onion, diced
  • 2 cups Lettuce, shredded
  • 4 large Flour or Wheat Tortillas
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 package Taco Seasoning


1. Brown meat on stovetop. Add diced onions and cook until translucent. Drain fat.

2. While meat is browning get 4 oven proof bowls and place upside down on a cookie sheet. Shape flour tortillas over bowls (you can place the tortillas in the microwave for a few seconds to make them softer and easier to shape around the bowls).

3. Place in oven, lowest rack and bake at 450 degrees for about 7 minutes. Keep checking them... you want them to get crisp but not brown.

4. Place crisp shell in a bowl, add ingredients and serve buffet style.
