Fall Kitchen Essentials

As the air turns chilly the desire to stay in and cozy up with something yummy is on the horizon. Something yummy may mean anything from a good book to Netflix but definitely includes something good to eat. Keeping a kitchen stocked with the essentials means you won't have to do a last minute grocery run when what you really want to do is throw on some slippers and snuggle. Here’s a list of our five kitchen must haves.

Spices: Fall is a perfect time of year to go through your spice arsenal and see what needs refreshing. Essentials to have on hand to make your home smell and taste like fall: nutmeg, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and ginger. Most sweet and savory baked goods can be accomplished with these go to flavors on hand.

Crockpot: My best friend year round but especially in the fall and winter months is my slow cooker.  Nothing beats starting a meal in the morning and walking in to the smell and sight of dinner being done.  October (Crock-tober) at our house is a month long journey of slow cooker meals.  Try out some of our favorites here.

Immersion blender: If you plan to make any blended soups and bisques this season this tool is a must for saving sanity.

Dutch oven: A close second on my friend list to the crockpot is my dutch oven(s).  I have multiple in every size and color.  Casseroles, roasts and many baked goods look and taste delicious when served in a fun and functional dutch oven.

Fall-ish kitchen decor: Towels, napkins, hot pads.  Think pumpkin, acorns, leaves, anything that helps you embrace fall.
