Corn & Ham Chowder

This is a family favorite & we often double it to freeze for later or share with someone. Everyone likes this stuff.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 1 large Green Bell Pepper, chopped
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon Marjoram
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Dry Mustard
  • 6 cup Milk
  • 3 cups Shredded Cheese, Sharp
  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 4 cups Cooked Ham, diced
  • 3 cups Frozen Corn


1. Peel, dice and boil potatoes in sauce pan (being careful not to overcook them) while moving on to the next step.

2. Melt butter in the bottom of a large heavy pan (that will hold all the chowder when finished); add green pepper and onion and saute'.

3. Mix all dry ingredients (flour and seasonings) together in a small bowl.

4. After onion and green pepper are cooked, stir in dry ingredients.

5. Gradually stir in milk, two cups at a time, and continue stirring until thick.

6. Add shredded cheese and continue stirring.

7. Add ham, corn, and drained potatoes.

8. Cook on medium low heat (stirring all the time!) until heated through.
