A delicious source of fiber! You may choose to substitute the dates for raisins if you wish.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Wheat Bran
  • 1 cup Butter Milk
  • 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 large Egg
  • 19/29 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda


1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

2. Mix the wheat bran and buttermilk; let stand for about 10 minutes.

3. Beat oil, egg, sugar and vanilla and add it to the buttermilk/bran mixture. Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir flour mixture into the buttermilk mixture. Mix until just blended. Fold in raisins/dates and spoon batter into muffin tins.

4. Bake for 15-20 minutes
